Coremo

1960:

OCMEA Srl is established in Milan, Italy to manufacture mechanical clutches for machine tools.

1963:

OCMEA starts to manufacture also electromagnetic brakes and clutches. Following the growth of its business volume in the Italian machine tools industry, the company moves to a larger location with more employees and more machines.

1967:

OCMEA continuous growth brings the company to build its own headquarters in Assago, a new industrial suburb in the south west area of Milan.

1978:

OCMEA acquires the company COREMO Srl, specialized in the design and manufacturing of pneumatic brakes and clutches. A new bigger company is established with the name COREMO OCMEA Srl.

1980:

the development of the pneumatic product range opens new markets for COREMO OCMEA. The company starts to export its products through international distributors. Also the Italian sales network is improved for a better coverage of the territory.

1989:

the headquarters of COREMO OCMEA in Assago are rebuilt to host more employees, more machines and a larger stock of parts.

1993:

the company decides to develop a new Quality System according to international regulations and standards.

1995:

the company achieves the quality certification according to UNI EN 29002 regulation. The production capacity is increased both inside the company and through external sub-suppliers to face the growth of sales, boosted by the development of the pneumatic caliper brakes range.

1996:

the company Quality System is certified according to ISO 9001 regulation.

1999:

the improvement of quality and efficiency is supported by the new information system which is completed and extended to the whole company. The caliper brakes range is further developed with new models and improved features.

2000:

the first hydraulic brakes are added to the family of disc brakes.

2002:

the quality system is updated according to the new Vision 2000 regulation; the company faces the international recession with investments on its re-organization by processes. The solid modelling design (Solid Works) is introduced to speed up development of new products and innovation.

2004:

new important certifications are achieved for supply of brakes in military applications (NATO) and explosion-proof environments (ATEX). The penetration of Eastern markets, from China to Turkey, from India to Japan, from South-East Asia to Australia, helps the growth of the company even in a difficult international economic situation. The diversification on the product/market matrix allows Coremo to face successfully new prestigious applications, for example in the marine field or in technologies for entertainment.

2006:

the further development of hydraulic brakes allows Coremo to enter mining and oil perforation markets. The re-design of the fan-cooled brakes supports the growth of market shares in the converting industry. A new factory surface of 1.500 sqm is added to the existing one in order to face the growth of sales. The opening of the new branch Coremo France in Paris strengthens the leadership of Coremo also in the French market.

2008:

the success of Coremo in China leads to establish a representation office in Beijing. The diversification strategy is further developed through the design of new electric caliper brakes, mainly for safety application on lifting systems.

2010:

Coremo celebrates 50 years of Quality and Tradition by launching its own most powerful product, the new hydraulic failsafe brake ID3000/N with braking force 270 kN.
